Holmes County scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 72-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Malone Tigers. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Malone's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Everett Welch, who went 7 for 8 on his way to 24 points in addition to six boards and five assists. What's more, Welch also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jamerious Sims, who posted 19 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Holmes County's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Malone, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Holmes County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-47 victory against Graceville on the 7th. As for Malone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-13 win against Vernon on the 7th.
