Football Recap: West Columbus Vikings vs. Camden County Bruins

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Columbus can now relate to. They fell just short of the Camden County Bruins by a score of 33-30 on Friday. While the Vikings had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Bruins 16-7.

Despite the loss, West Columbus still got an impressive performance from DJ Graham, who rushed for 82 yards and one score, and also threw for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Even if they lost, West Columbus' defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Jonas Evans was especially locked on to Camden County's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Bruins' side was Sam Battle, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.

Camden County was led to victory by Javon Riddick and Gabriel Norman. Riddick rushed for 119 yards and a pair of TDs, while Norman rushed for 102 yards and one score on only 13 carries. Those 102 rushing yards gave Norman a new career-high.

West Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Camden County, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.

West Columbus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Camden County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tarboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points in their last six contests.
