Recap: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Father McGivney Catholic Griffins

The Valmeyer Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 44-36 loss to Father McGivney Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valmeyer has scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Father McGivney Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Jansen, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Noah Garner, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.

Valmeyer's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Father McGivney Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.

Valmeyer will take on Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lebanon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Mulberry Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mulberry Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
