The Conifer Lobos will square off against the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Thursday, Conifer needed a bit of extra time to put away Green Mountain. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Rams. Winning may never get old, but the Lobos sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Luke Adams made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Conifer is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-7 otherwise. Adams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dillon Tracy, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Aiden Scanlon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Conifer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for D'Evelyn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Pomona 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
D'Evelyn also got a great performance from Darian Valdez-Berriel as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, D'Evelyn's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leo Vigil, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Jack Meiser, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Conifer pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for D'Evelyn, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Conifer has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like D'Evelyn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Conifer came out on top in a nail-biter against D'Evelyn in their previous meeting last Wednesday, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
