Baseball Game Preview: Whitfield Warriors vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats

The Whitfield Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Westminster Christian Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whitfield came out on top against Principia on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Warriors took their game against the Panthers 8-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Whitfield let Parker Walseth and Mark Portis run wild. Walseth went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Portis got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Portis a new career-high. Joseph Kline also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Vianney typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Westminster Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Golden Griffins with a sharp 14-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Westminster Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Whitfield, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-15.
