Basketball Recap: Mater Bay Academy Falls Short of Palmer Trinity in the Playoffs

Mater Bay Academy and Palmer Trinity squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mater Bay Academy had to settle for second. The game between them and the Palmer Trinity Falcons didn't end well, with the Mater Bay Academy Rays falling 63-46. The Rays lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-32 score last time.

Mater Bay Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexander Guererro, who posted ten points along with five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Guererro a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Garcia, who earned 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palmer Trinity to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andres Domenech, who went 6 of 12 to rack up 24 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Domenech's third in a row with at least 16 points. Harrison Miles was another key player, putting up ten points and six steals.

Mater Bay Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 19-4. As for Palmer Trinity, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6.

Mater Bay Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmer Trinity, they will face off against Riviera Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riviera Prep will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Palmer Trinity surely won't give up without a fight.
