Softball Recap: Holy Name's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

Holy Name dropped their record down to 16-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions. The Green Wave were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Bailey Garlow made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Anna Soos also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's side, Alex Mould spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Lily Rader was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Becca Wooke was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Holy Name will venture away from home to square off against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Wave's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
