Basketball Recap: Bensalem Triumphs

Bensalem posted their closest victory since January 12th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Northeast Vikings 54-52. Given the Fighting Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Vikings are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Amir Drummond went supernova for Bensalem, putting up 24 points and five steals. That's the most steals Drummond has posted since back in December of 2023. Christian Lee was another key player, posting seven points.

Northeast lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bobby Perry, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Miller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Bensalem and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Northeast, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Bensalem wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 70-52 defeat against Holy Ghost Prep on the 10th. As for Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-38 win against Boys' Latin Charter on the 10th.
