Clearfield is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Bountiful is on an 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Clearfield will host Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
While Clearfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Bonneville on Tuesday.

Jenna Lloyd was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.
In other batting news, Addyson Haddock and Lyla Leonhardt did most of the damage at the plate: Haddock scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Leonhardt scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Haddock also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Alexandra Bingham was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Clearfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Bountiful made easy work of West Field on Wednesday and carried off an 11-2 win.
Like Clearfield, Bountiful also got a great game from a two-way player: Ella Miller. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Miller was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Isabeau Hoff was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Claire Yates, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Clearfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Bountiful, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Clearfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .532. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clearfield might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Bountiful in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Clearfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
