Recap: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Burke County Bears
The Screven County Gamecocks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 67-50 bruising from Burke County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Screven County in their matchups with Burke County: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Screven County saw an underclassman step up: Brennen Fountain scored 16 points. Deon Dixon was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Burke County found their leader in underclassman La'Quinton Morgan, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Wimberly, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Screven County bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Burke County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Screven County will take on Woodville-Tompkins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodville-Tompkins has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three contests. As for Burke County, they will be playing at home against Benedictine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Benedictine is ranked 165th, while Burke County is ranked 143rd).
