Softball Recap: Costa Mesa Comes Up Short

Costa Mesa managed to slip by Anaheim the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Costa Mesa Mustangs came up short against the Anaheim Colonists on Monday, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Costa Mesa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Victoria Rios, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Rios is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Alani Bijanjan was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Costa Mesa is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. As for Anaheim, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Costa Mesa will host West Covina at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Costa Mesa has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Anaheim, they will head out on the road to take on Artesia at 3:00 p.m. on March 17th.
