Baseball Recap: West Ranch Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

West Ranch entered their tilt with San Marcos on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Royals by a score of 7-2. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly five runs.

Hunter Manning made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Hu, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Connor Clayton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

West Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in five consecutive games.

West Ranch pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-16.

West Ranch has already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Granada Hills Charter on the 17th. As for San Marcos, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 defeat against Torrance on the 19th.
