Basketball Recap: Dylan Luke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Snow Canyon over Juan Diego Catholic

Snow Canyon had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-2 to make it six. They fell 53-46 to the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 64-39 to the Soaring Eagle when the teams met back in March of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Luke, who went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points. Luke has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reggie MacKay, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

As for Juan Diego Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those 53 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Juan Diego Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Nicolodemos, who shot 47% from the field on his way to 19 points and six boards. Those 19 points gave Nicolodemos a new career-high. Deng Deng was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Snow Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-51 defeat against Syracuse on the 6th. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-50 loss against Pine View on the 6th.
