League recap: Heights' Mercer delivers best pitching performance from past week

Brandon Mercer was the best pitcher in Greater Wichita City this week, leading Heights. He picked up one win and nine strikeouts.

With a big week, Kapaun Mt. Carmel jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Kapaun Mt. Carmel moved up from No. 30 in the state all the way to No. 22 thanks to a 2-0 record over the past week. Led by manager Steve Lienhard, the Crusaders are ranked No. 1809 in the nation with an overall record of 15-7.

Carroll's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only two hits and one walks, both of which led the league. The Golden Eagles' pitchers have been charged with only 83 hits and have struck out 149 batters. Seth Holman is tops on the staff with 53 Ks.
