Volleyball Recap: Centennial Falls to Sequoyah

Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sequoyah Chiefs.

While Centennial ultimately came up short, they really made Sequoyah work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-14.

Hailey Bowen paced Centennial's offense, picking up five kills. Bowen got some help from Micah Loutensock and her 10 assists. Kelsey Barker controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Sequoyah was led to victory by Maria Fisher and Leni Hansraj. Fisher had 11 digs, five kills, and two aces, while Hansraj had four digs, four aces, and a solo block. The team also got some help from Kennedy Mathis, who had seven digs and five assists.

Centennial has now lost nine of their last 10 games on the road. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Sequoyah, they have been performing well recently as they've won 10 of their last 13 games. That gives them a 6-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Centennial and Sequoyah will both be playing Cherokee the next time they take the court. The Knights will head out to face the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Chiefs will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
