Baseball Recap: Fort Cherry Rangers vs. Mapletown Maples

Fort Cherry can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mapletown Maples as the Fort Cherry Rangers made off with a 17-2 victory. While fans of Fort Cherry might be used to big wins, the 15-run margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

Dylan Lueck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Lueck was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Fort Cherry got a massive performance out of Matt Sieg, who went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Sieg is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last four games he's played. Fort Cherry will head out on the road to square off against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Fort Cherry a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Mapletown will take on Carmichaels at 12:43 p.m. on Monday.
