Lennard won the last time they faced Chamberlain and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Storm with a sharp 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Juli Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Hannah Rooks was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Lennard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chamberlain only posted a batting average of .300.
Lennard has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chamberlain, their record now sits at 13-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lennard will welcome Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Longhorns their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Chamberlain, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. The Storm's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
