Football Game Preview: Jayton Jaybirds vs. Oakwood Panthers

Jayton is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Oakwood is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Jayton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Oakwood likes a good challenge.

Jayton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Klondike 90-48. Fans of the Jaybirds have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Oakwood challenged Oglesby last Saturday. Oakwood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 victory over Oglesby. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since October 13, 2023.

Oakwood has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Jayton, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
