Recap: Saks Wildcats vs. Central of Clay County Volunteers

The Saks Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were beaten by Central of Clay County 54-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Saks in their matchups with Central of Clay County: they've now lost six in a row.

Central of Clay County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Lindsey, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Lindsey hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ramyah Billingsley, who scored ten points along with four steals.

Saks' loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Central of Clay County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-5.

Saks won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Piedmont at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Piedmont presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Saks in Alabama (Piedmont is ranked 170th, while Saks is ranked 407th). As for Central of Clay County, they will take on Shelby County at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shelby County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Central of Clay County surely won't give up without a fight.
