Basketball Recap: Destiny Simmons Key Part of Team Effort in Vikings Win

Spring Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 59-38 margin over the Trinity Collegiate Titans on Friday. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered an 82-59 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Spring Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Simmons, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. Dominique Briggs was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Trinity Collegiate and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Spring Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ashley Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Trinity Collegiate, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ben Lippen at 6:15 p.m. on December 10.
