Basketball Game Preview: Upsala Cardinals vs. Staples-Motley Cardinals

Upsala is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Staples-Motley is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Upsala Cardinals will get right back to it and host the Staples-Motley Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Staples-Motley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Upsala, who comes in off a win.

Upsala will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Kimball, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Upsala skirted past Kimball 51-48. The Cardinals' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Meanwhile, Staples-Motley scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 95-94 to Park Rapids. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (60), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Upsala is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Staples-Motley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Upsala didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Staples-Motley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win.
