Basketball Game Preview: Clinton School vs. Hunter College Hawks

Clinton School will challenge the Hunter College Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Clinton School: 27.7, Hunter College: 25.4) so any points scored will be well earned.

Clinton School is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Green: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Clinton School blew Green out of the water with an 80-7 final score. Clinton School has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 29 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kate Stanley, who posted 34 points and six assists. Those 34 points gave her a new career-high. Ivy Visser was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Clinton School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Hunter College put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against NEST+m by a score of 48-39. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while NEST+m are ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hunter College's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Clinton School, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Things could have been worse for Clinton School, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-25 loss to Hunter College in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
