Softball Recap: Damascus Hornets vs. Chopticon Braves
Damascus gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Chopticon Braves.
Damascus' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ana DiGiandomenico, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits DiGiandomenico has posted since back in April of 2024. Amaya Hammond was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Chopticon's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Damascus will challenge Catoctin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chopticon, they will square off against Westlake at 4:30 p.m. on March 21st. This will be Chopticon's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
