Softball Recap: Morrison Mustangs vs. Galena Pirates
After flying high against Polo last Thursday, Morrison came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell just short of the Galena Pirates by a score of 8-6 on Monday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Caylee Bramm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Bella Duncan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Elle Milnes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Morrison's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Galena, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.
Morrison has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Amboy on the 15th. As for Galena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-0 defeat against Fulton on the 15th.
