Softball Recap: Cumberland Dukes vs. Prince Edward County Eagles

There's no place like home for Cumberland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against the Prince Edward County Eagles on Thursday as the Cumberland Dukes made off with a 9-1 win. That's more bragging rights for Cumberland, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maya Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Cumberland got a big performance out of Kelly Womak, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Naisha Scott, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Prince Edward County, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.

Cumberland will look to defend their home field on Monday against Buckingham at 5:00 p.m. Prince Edward County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
