Baseball Game Preview: North Florida Christian Eagles vs. Maclay Marauders

North Florida Christian is 8-2 against Maclay since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. North Florida Christian will host Maclay at 4:30 p.m. Maclay took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on North Florida Christian, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, North Florida Christian beat Aucilla Christian 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Jace Riggan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

On the hitting side, North Florida Christian's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brigs Sparkman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Sparkman a new career-high. Bryson Bond also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Maclay fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against South Walton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-2 to the Seahawks. The Marauders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Noah Chavez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

North Florida Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Maclay, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
