Softball Recap: Lake Weir Takes a Loss

After flying high against Dunnellon last Monday, Lake Weir came back down to earth. Lake Weir fell just short of Mount Dora by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

Lake Weir saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mae Heald, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Mount Dora, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Weir will face off against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricanes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Mount Dora, they will take on Bishop Moore at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
