Baseball Game Preview: St. Augustine Yellow Jackets vs. Middleburg Broncos

The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets will face off against the Middleburg Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Middleburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Augustine, who comes in off a win.

St. Augustine had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Matanzas on Monday. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 11-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.

Xavier Ahr was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Jordan Petty was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Middleburg might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Bolles who claimed the real prize. The Broncos fell 9-4 to the Bulldogs.

Middleburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Austin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Middleburg dropped their record down to 9-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home. As for St. Augustine, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.

St. Augustine took their victory against Middleburg when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 17-4 score. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
