Softball Game Preview: Upper Lake Cougars vs. Middletown Mustangs

The Upper Lake Cougars will square off against the Middletown Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Upper Lake has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Upper Lake came up short against Cloverdale two weeks ago, falling 21-1. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Middletown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Fort Bragg. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Upper Lake's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Middletown, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Upper Lake couldn't quite finish off Middletown when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 6-4. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
