Baseball Game Preview: La Puente Warriors vs. Bassett Olympians

After both having extra time off, the La Puente Warriors and the Bassett Olympians will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Puente will be strutting in after a victory while Bassett will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, it was close, but La Puente sidestepped Workman for a 3-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Manel Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, La Puente's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Eric Duran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Duran is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Bassett was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Ganesha, falling 11-0.

La Puente's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Bassett, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

La Puente took their victory against Bassett in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-3 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Olympians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
