Preview: Laramie Plainsmen vs. South Bison
Laramie is 8-2 against South since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Laramie Plainsmen will head out on the road to challenge the South Bison at 6:00 p.m. Laramie knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 games -- so hopefully South likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Laramie faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Laramie walked away with a 71-63 victory over Central. The score was all tied up 34-34 at the break, but Laramie was the better team in the second half.
Max Alexander was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Busch, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, sadly, South is still looking for their first win of the season after 18 matchups. They were outmatched by Central on the road and fell 68-26. While losing is never fun, South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Central is ranked first).
Laramie pushed their record up to 16-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Everything came up roses for Laramie against South in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 80-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laramie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
