Baseball Recap: Fleming Island Takes a Loss

Fleming Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the McMinn County Cherokees. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cherokees apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Fleming Island saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Kiley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Jacob Bowden also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Fleming Island's record is now 4-10. As for McMinn County, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Fleming Island will venture away from home to take on Silverdale Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McMinn County, they will host Giles County at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
