Softball Recap: Newport Harbor Takes a Loss

Newport Harbor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Juan Hills Stallions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sailors of the 6-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Newport Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for San Juan Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Newport Harbor and San Juan Hills could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Sailors will challenge Huntington Beach at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (565 vs. 53). Meanwhile, San Juan Hills (ranked 357th) will meet San Clemente (ranked 164th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
