It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Laney ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Hoggard Vikings 5-4. The Buccaneers are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.

The team relied heavily on Jason Sproull, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. JB Brooks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Laney's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hoggard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-15.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Laney is set to square off against their familiar foe New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Buccaneers 2.9, the Wildcats 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Hoggard will take on rival Ashley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
