Preview: Haines City Hornets vs. Spruce Creek Hawks
The Haines City Hornets will square off against the Spruce Creek Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Haines City put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Mater Brighton Lakes Academy at home to the tune of 64-13. Given Haines City's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Mater Brighton Lakes Academy is ranked 623rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Arissa Jenkins, who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Amari Thomas, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Spruce Creek strolled past Windermere Prep with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 66-48.
Haines City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. As for Spruce Creek, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
