Basketball Game Preview: Morrow Mustangs vs. Northgate Vikings

Morrow is 5-0 against Northgate since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Morrow Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Northgate Vikings at 7:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Morrow: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Northgate has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Last Tuesday, Morrow was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-47 to Dutchtown. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Northgate strolled past Banneker with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 69-51.

Northgate has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Morrow, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything came up roses for Morrow against Northgate in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as the squad secured an 82-54 victory. Will Morrow repeat their success, or does Northgate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
