MaxPreps All-Holiday Basketball Tournament Team

MaxPreps looks at the top performers from the nation's best high school basketball tournaments.

Great basketball players always stand out, no matter who they play. But there's something about the holiday season in basketball: It seems to match great teams and great players against each other far more frequently than league schedules.

After two weeks of coast-to-coast tournament action, MaxPreps breaks down the standouts from high school basketball's holiday madness.

FIRST TEAM (listed alphabetically)

Nick Emery, Lone Peak (Highland, Utah)
Emery, a 6-foot-1 junior guard already committed to BYU, was on fire at the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina, averaging 29.7 points per game and drilling 18 3-pointers in four outings. The Knights made a major statement with wins over St. Augustine (New Orleans) and Whitney Young (Chicago) en route to a second-place finish.



Kasey Hill, Montverde Academy (Fla.)
The junior point guard got off to a slow start, missing the first two games of the City of Palms Classic. But Hill picked it up at the Kingdom of the Sun tournament, earning MVP honors and leading Montverde Academy – 7-1 overall in the two events – to the title. He topped it off with a commitment to the Florida Gators on New Year's Eve.

Shabazz Muhammad, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)
The Gaels went 5-3 in a brutal eight-game run at the City of Palms Classic and Beach Ball Classic. Muhammad delighted audiences at both events with his scoring exploits, pouring in 29.1 points per game to go along with 7.8 rebounds. The nation's top-ranked senior erupted for 42 against Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas) in the quarterfinals at City of Palms.

Evan Nolte, Milton (Ga.)
The Virginia signee posted 17.7 points, 6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as Milton tore through the field at the Beach Ball Classic, beating Bishop Gorman by 21 in the semifinals and Lone Peak by 28 in the final.

Julius Randle, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas)
A week after winning the City of Palms Classic, PCA fizzled out at the Beach Ball Classic and left Myrtle Beach on a two-game losing streak. Randle, a 6-foot-9 power forward rated the No. 2 junior in America by MaxPreps, posted 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game over the seven-game span. He was dominant in the quarterfinals and semifinals at City of Palms, going for 26 points and 10 rebounds against Bishop Gorman and 31 points and 14 rebounds against Riverside Academy (Reserve, La.) to send the Lions to the title game.

ALL-HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT SECOND TEAM

Tyler Lewis, Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.)
Oak Hill Academy went 7-0 and won two major tournaments over the holidays, taking the Chick-fil-A Classic in South Carolina before Christmas and the Les Schwab Invitational in Oregon afterwards. Lewis took took home tournament MVP at the Les Schwab Invitational and was solid throughout both events, averaging 14 points and 5.8 assists per outing.

Jalen Lindsey, Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.)
Just a sophomore, Lindsey captured MVP honors at the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic in Kentucky after putting up 23.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. Christ Presbyterian beat Butler (Louisville) by 13 in the tournament final. The Lions also took third place at the Arby's Invitational in Bristol, Tenn., following Christmas.



Jabari Parker, Simeon (Chicago)
The junior phenom was named the A.C. Williamson Award winner (MVP) for the second year in a row after leading Simeon to the crown at the 81st annual Pontiac Holiday Tournament. The top-ranked Wolverines needed a big performance from Parker in the semifinals and he delivered with 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 48-47 win over Manual (Peoria).

Katin Reinhardt, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)
After a pair of 20-point games at the City of Palms, Reinhardt earned MVP honors at the MaxPreps Holiday Classic after Christmas. The UNLV signee notched a game-high 20 points in a 76-69 win over Lincoln (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the final.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.)
Smith-Rivera, a 6-2 shooting guard headed to Georgetown, paced the Warriors in their holiday double at 15.2 points per game and earned MVP honors at the Chick-fil-A Classic.
Katin Reinhardt led Mater Dei past Lincoln in the championship game of the MaxPreps Holiday Classic with 20 points.

ALL-HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT THIRD TEAM

John Davis, Neumann & Goretti (Philadelphia)
Davis and the Saints made a loud statement in the final of the Stop DWI Classic in New York, blasting defending New York City Catholic league champ Christ the King (Middle Village) 73-41 to take the championship. Davis notched a team-high 18 points in the final and posted 13 points and 17 rebounds in the opening round against Mount Vernon. The 6-4 junior shared MVP honors with senior teammate Billy Shank.

Jerami Grant, DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.)
Six different DeMatha players had double-digit scoring efforts at The Holiday Classic in California as the Stags roared through four solid Golden State programs to take the title. Picking an MVP was probably a toss-up but Grant got the nod.

Buddy Hield, Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.)
The Oklahoma pledge led SCA to a pair of tournament finals, beating Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas) for the trophy at the Neosho Holiday Classic in Missouri. Hield earned MVP honors there after going for 21 points in the final. He had a 33-point game in the quarterfinals of the National Prep Classic in California.



Jahlil Okafor, Whitney Young (Chicago)
The big sophomore was a force at the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina, averaging 21 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. The Dolphins beat City of Palms champion Prestonwood Christian in the quarterfinals before falling to Lone Peak and Bishop Gorman on the final two days of the event.

Imara Ready, Parkview (Little Rock, Ark.)
Ready, a 5-10 junior guard committed to Nebraska, helped Parkview pull off one of the biggest stunners of the holiday season by going into Texas and coming home with the Whataburger Tournament title. Ready went for 32 points in the final against King (Milwaukee) and averaged 17 points per game over the first three rounds – all victories over strong Dallas-Fort Worth programs.
