Recap: Greenwich Cardinals vs. Stamford Black Knights
The Greenwich Cardinals had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Stamford with a sharp 47-21 victory on Tuesday. Considering Greenwich has won five games by more than 25 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Greenwich's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rocco Grillo, who threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Noah Park was another key contributor, gaining 120 total yards and three touchdowns.
Stamford's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camron Jean Pierre, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Greenwich's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Stamford, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Greenwich will take on West Haven at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (West Haven: 17.5, Greenwich: 12.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Stamford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
