Recap: Liberty Christian Academy Eagles vs. Christian Fellowship
After a string of five wins, the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a serious blow against Christian Fellowship, falling 77-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Liberty Christian Academy has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lauren Moss. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Moss scored a full 93.8% of Liberty Christian Academy's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Liberty Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Christian Fellowship racked up 16 assists.
Christian Fellowship was led to victory by Brooke Grathwohl and Ariya Barton. Grathwohl scored 20 points along with seven steals, while Barton dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. That's the first time this season that Barton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Babich, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Liberty Christian Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Christian Fellowship, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Wellsville-Middletown at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. As for Christian Fellowship, they will face off against Jamestown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jamestown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Christian Fellowship in Missouri (Jamestown is ranked 97th, while Christian Fellowship is ranked 202nd).
