Baseball Recap: Central Falls Short of Palo Verde Valley in the Playoffs

Central and Palo Verde Valley squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Central had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 8-7. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellow Jackets earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Max Fimbres was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Carrillo, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Central has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 17 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Palo Verde Valley, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-12-1.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palo Verde Valley, they will challenge Ramona at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Yellow Jackets surely won't give up without a fight.
