Baseball Preview: South Spartans vs. North Stars        
        
		
            
 After six games on the road, South is heading back home. They will take on the North Stars at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. South is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.9  runs per game this season.
 South put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season  on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Del Oro  a   30-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what South needed considering they were shutout in their previous   contest.
  Giovanni Jimenez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching  an inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also didn't allow any  walks). Jimenez was even better at the plate,  scoring four  runs while  getting on base  in all five of his plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jose Bojorquez, who  went 4-for-5 with six  RBI, four  runs,  and two  triples. He has been hot recently, having posted  at least one  stolen base the last four times he's  played.  Tomas Encinas was another key contributor,  going 4-for-5 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and a  triple.
 Meanwhile, North fell victim to a  rough 9-1 defeat at the hands of East Bakersfield  on Wednesday. North has not had much luck with East Bakersfield recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
 North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  LOGAN VALDEZ, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.
 South's win was  their fourth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 15.8 runs per game. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
 Everything went South's way against North when the teams last played  back in May of 2023 as South made off with  an  18-9 victory. Will South repeat their success,  or does  North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
