Preview: Northwest Vikings vs. Dickson County Cougars
The Northwest Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dickson County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Northwest unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Springfield by a score of 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Northwest has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, Dickson County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Clarksville, falling 65-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dickson County in their matchups with Clarksville: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite their loss, Dickson County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jenna Saine, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Keely Webb was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Northwest now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Dickson County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Everything went Northwest's way against Dickson County in their previous meeting on January 9th as Northwest made off with a 68-42 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Saine, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
