Softball Recap: Owego Free Academy Victorious

Owego Free Academy's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They skirted past the Waverly Wolverines 8-7. For the River Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 17-11 victory the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Carsten Crawford was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Geneva Crawford was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Miley Laubach, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Owego Free Academy's record now sits at 10-2. As for Waverly, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Owego Free Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Chenango Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Waverly will challenge rival Chenango Forks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
