Football Recap: Bel Air Highlanders vs. Americas Trail Blazers
Bel Air extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 2-8. They had to suffer through a 55-14 loss at the hands of the Americas Trail Blazers. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 916th, while the Trail Blazers are ranked 454th).
Despite the defeat, Bel Air saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayden Lopez rushed for 198 yards.
As for Americas, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Considering they have won four contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Camron Johnson, who rushed for 202 yards and four TDs on only nine carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 120 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Hernandez, who rushed for 103 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.
Bel Air didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 84-25 loss against Abilene on the 13th. As for Americas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 50-32 defeat against Monterey on the 14th.
