Volleyball Game Preview: Dobson Mustangs vs. Westwood Warriors

Dobson hasn't had much luck against Westwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m.

Dobson is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Red Mountain. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since March 20th.

Meanwhile, Westwood earned a 3-1 victory over Mesa on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Jackrabbits recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Westwood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19.

Dobson better focus on containing Ricardo Alvarado and Jack Carpenter as the pair were huge in Westwood's win. Alvarado had 12 digs and three assists, while Carpenter had five digs, three aces, and one block. Carpenter has been hot, having also posted 14 or more assists the last seven times he's played.

Westwood's record now sits at 10-3. As for Dobson, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Dobson might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Westwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
