Recap: St. Paul's Wolves vs. Slidell Tigers
After a string of three wins, the St. Paul's Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Slidell. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but St. Paul's couldn't quite close it out.
It was another big night for Jaden Hookfin, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Slidell. Hookfin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Bonnaffons, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
St. Paul's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-8. As for Slidell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Paul's will challenge Northshore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Slidell, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hammond at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hammond will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Slidell is ranked 48th).
