Softball Recap: Hinsdale South Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hinsdale South and Addison Trail meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Hornets lost 15-2 to the Blazers. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Hornets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Alex Kuhlman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Hinsdale South has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Addison Trail, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7.

Coming up, Hinsdale South will take on Proviso East at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.86 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Addison Trail, they will challenge Downers Grove South at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
