Baseball Game Preview: Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets vs. Porter Cowboys

For the second straight game, Edcouch-Elsa will face off against Porter. The Yellowjackets will challenge the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Edcouch-Elsa is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Porter on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024 (when they won 10-0).

Nathan Garza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Garza was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Troy Barco, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Brandon Ibarra was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Edcouch-Elsa's record is now 8-17. As for Porter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
