Basketball Recap: Wheaton Academy's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheaton Academy). They enjoyed a cozy 51-37 win over the Sandwich Indians on Tuesday. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 39-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Wheaton Academy to victory were Noelle Nichols and Alaina Finck. Nichols shot 67% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Finck posted 15 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nichols has scored at least a third of the Warriors' points. Ava Biagini was another key player, putting up seven points along with five assists and three steals.

Wheaton Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Wheaton Academy's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Sandwich, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

As for Sandwich, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-37 loss against Plano on the 2nd.
