Basketball Recap: Atlantic Christian Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Atlantic Christian can now relate to. They were dealt a 60-32 loss at the hands of the Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 110th).

Schoolhouse Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lya Gonzalez out in front who dropped a triple-double with 13 points, ten boards, and ten assists. Gonzalez has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 22 times she's played. Kartier Durden was another key player, going 9-for-11 en route to 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Atlantic Christian and nudges their season record down to 19-9. As for Schoolhouse Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Atlantic Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Schoolhouse Prep, they will take on Miami Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Schoolhouse Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
